Activity 2:  Study of architecture in countries of study
Students make a study of the popular structures and analyze what styles were and are preferred in the countries under study.  Students present their findings in the form of a Power Point Presentation and share the same via blog.

Activity 3:  Field Trip 

Two field trips organized to understand the influence of culture on architecture.  The findings would be presented in the form of a journal entry.

Students in Vermont started making models of ancient buildings using recycled materials, toothpicks, hot glue and candy.   We will write up our findings next week.

This student is working on an ancient Australian building using toothpicks and hot glue.

 

 

 

 

 


These students and teacher's aide use cardboard, mini-marshmallows and glue to recreate a building.

  1. We think that it is cool that you took field trips to places that we don't have in our country. It is cool that you drew their buildings and that you filled out information about them. We will write more of our background history when we build our buildings. Are you going to build models? What materials are you going to use?

  2. It is great to see the creativity in creating the models - we look forward to learning the history of the buildings. We had the plan of building models only for green buildings, but not of ancient structures. However, one of our green building models made completely by a student has turned out to look like an ancient structure, proving that the ancient buildings were truly green buildings! We will share the images of the models in the next two days.
